Comorbidities in psoriasis - a new perspective of an old disease

doc. MUDr. Vladimír Vašků, CSc
Dermatovenerologická klinika, FN Brno

Psoriasis is multifactorial disease with manifestation on genetic background. The manifestation under provoking factors is the result of

many genes. There are some possible associations between psoriasis and comorbid conditions in this way. Psoriasis is driven by immune

mechanisms with important role of activated T lymphocytes and some factors of non specific immunity. Inflammation in psoriasis could

be connected i. e. with some cardiovascular diseases. Especially in severe psoriasis effective systemic treatment is necessary. Biologicals

are hopeful in this way.

Keywords: psoriasis, multigenic background, comorbidities, treatment.
