Leg ulcers affect up to 5 % of the population. The most common type is venous leg ulcers followed by mixed and arterial ones. Ulcers of
varied aetiology typically have different clinical presentation and, in particular, differ in treatment. While the main therapeutic principle
in venous ulcers is elimination of venous hypertension (by external compression or surgically), in arterial ulcers it is necessary to provide
adequate perfusion of the periphery with surgical or interventional radiological methods. Each type of treatment requires active
cooperation of the patient and has to be initiated in time.
