The paper provides an overview of the clinical presentation, pathogenesis, and treatment of alopecia. Treatments for androgenetic
alopecia include topical minoxidil in both men and women and systemic finasteride in men. In progressive alopecia areata, systemic
corticosteroids are administered in a short term; in localized forms, topical corticosteroids, anthralin (cignolin) and diphencyprone, are
used. Pseudopelade – scarring irreversible alopecia represents the final stage of multiple different types of scarring alopecia that are
very difficult to treat. Histological and dermatoscopic examination helps identify different types of alopecia (1).
