Disorders of bone metabolism in some skin diseases

Strong connections exist between the bone metabolism and skin diseases. Most of the interactions are still not fully described. Any

chronic inflammation should be considered as a risk of bone mineral density decline, leading to the increased risk of fractures. Up to

now there is no strong consensus about the situation in psoriatic patients and literature is inconsistent. Most of the studies confirm the

increased risk of osteoporosis in psoriatic men. Long-term use of glucocorticoids is undoubtedly one of the risk factors for osteoporosis.

By giving such kind of therapy the well-timed cooperation of dermatologist and osteologist is very important.
