Serious form of rosacea in 32 years old patient

The case of a 32 years old patient with an erythematoteleangiectatic and a papulopustulous forms of rosacea accompanied with serious

ocular problems is reported. Skin problems were present for 1,5 year. In the beginning of problems the patient herself used local corticoid

for 3 months. Following treatment with local metronidazol was without any effect. The patient had no therapy in the last 6 months. Because

of suspicion of rheumatoid arthritis she used peroral corticoids for 2 months, above mentioned diagnosis was not validated. A therapy with

peroral antibiotic doxybene was administered, local metronidazol cream was applied. Skin troubles reduced quickly. After healing of most

papules an aplication of brimonidin gel was started. The doxybene therapy was finished after 6 months- at that time skin was healed except

a facial erythema. Even a keratopathy diminished. The patient is still in a follow-up of our Acne clinic. She is applying local cream with

azelaic acid and brimonidin gel by now. She is regularly checked-up in an ophthalmologic and a rheumatology out-patient-departments.
