Skin photoprotection is a complex of protective measures preventing unwanted and harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation on skin. It consists of behavioral precautions, avoidance of midday sun, wearing of photoprotective clothing and aplication of sunscreens. Special attention is needed in protection of children and immunosupressed patients. Very controversial is vitamin D – its role in human body, optimal serum level and its partial dependance on exposition to ultraviolet radiation. Patients‘ education ensured by theirs dermatologists and by public health campaigns is crucial in effective primary prevention of skin cancer.

Photodermatoses are a skin disease caused by an increased sensitivity of the skin towards the sunlight. We divide them into 4 main categories: 1) immunologically mediated photodermatosis, that are polymorphic light eruption, actinic prurigo, hydroa vacciniforme, solar urticaria and chronic actinic dermatitis, 2) drug-induced and chemically-induced photosensitivity, that includes phototoxic and fotoallergic reactions, porphyria, 3) photoaggravated conditions, 4) defective DNA repairs disorders. Over a very wide range of diseases, their therapy is similar, it means strict photoprotection against UVB and UVA radiation and appropriate clothing.

Omalizumab is a humanized monoclonal anti-IgE antibody. It binds to the circulating IgE to form a biologically inert molecule that inhibits further interaction between IgE and FcεR1 receptor on mast cells and basophils. Omalizumab affects the activity of mast cells that become more stable with this treatment. Their degranulation threshold increases, resulting in the release of vasoactive mediators. Omalizumab was primarily indicated for the treatment of patients with asthma; this indication has been extended to include chronic spontaneous urticaria. The safety and efficacy of omalizumab has been demonstrated in three randomized, placebo-controlled...

A total of 3 654 samples were collected in the Mycological Laboratory of the Department of Dermatovenelogy, 1st Faculty of Medicine, Prague in 2015. T. rubrum was the most frequent dermatophyte isolated (91,5%), followed by T. interdigitalie (4,5%) and M. canis (1,8%). Less frequently isolated were A. benhamiae, T. tonsurans, E. floccosum a M. gypseum. The spectrum of dermatophytes is similar to previous years, there is a high proportion of antropophilic species, which corresponds to the composition of the urban population. This review discusses the current and future treatment options of dermatophytoses.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic relapsing papulosquamous disorder affecting in particular form a large number of the population. Disease may occur at any age and affects sebum-rich areas, the most common area is the scalp (dandruff). Etiopathogenetically Malassezia yeasts play main role in dermatitis seborrhoica (SD). Dermatitis seborrhoica is not usually a serious disease, but may reduce quality of life. Diagnosis is based primarily on the clinical picture and histology examination, but specially in the area of scalp can SD imitate psoriasis. There is dermatoscopic noninvasive examination, witch can be helpful for the differential diagnosis psoriasis...

Basal cell nevus syndrome, also known as Gorlin-Goltz syndrome, is an autosomal dominant disease caused by mutations in the PTCH gene found on chromosome arm 9q. The syndrome has complete penetrance and variable expressivity. The disease is characterised by multiple basal cell carcinomas in childhood associated with different abnormalities, like abnormalities of skin, odontogenetic jaw keratocysts, congenital abnormalities of skeletal system, ovarian fibromas, abnormalities of genitourinary system and CNS system, hypertelorism, broad nasal root. Tumors begin to appear on the face and trunk in childhood, they are small and resemble milia, small nevi,...

Due to the continuously increasing incidence of skin tumours whose link to the effects of sunlight is obvious, the issue of photoprotection is becoming increasingly important. The article deals with the effects of sunlight on the skin and the options of photoprotection, with a more detailed focus on the Anthelios sunscreens by LaRoche-Posay.

Mycosis fungoides is a primary cutaneous non- Hodgkin T–cell lymphoma. The spectrum of a clinical picture is very broad, which is the main problem to set the right diagnose for a long period of time. Therapy of this desease is combined and is based on multidisciplinary cooperation. It is quite an indolent form of cutaneous lymphoma according to its extent and stage. Beside the classical form of mycosis fungoides there are 3 other clinical variants: pagetoid reticulosis, follicular mucinosis and granulomatous slack skin.
