Photodynamic therapy is a modern, noninvasive treatment and diagnostic method used in dermatology for non - melanoma skincancer care. PDT is based on photodynamic reaction. It involves the activation of a photosensitizing drug by red light to producereactive oxygen species within target cells, resulting in their destruction. Recurrence rates are typically equivalent to other noninvasive(imiquimod, ingenol mebutate) and invasive (cryotherapy) therapies.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic recurrent inflammatory disease characterized by deep painful nodules, abscesses, sinus tracts and scarring. The most common areas affected are the axillae, the groin, the buttocks, the anogenital and perinealregion, inframammary areas. Its pathogenesis is multifactorial and includes genetic aspects, immune dysregulation, smokingand obesity. The treatment of HS depends on the severity of the disease (according to Hurley classification) and on its activity(according to Physician´s Global Assessment). First-line treatment includes topical clindamycin, oral doxycyclin or oral clindamycinand adalimumab. Surgical...

Psoriasis has traditionally been viewed as a primary skin condition that is treated with local agents. In light of new knowledgeon the aetiopathogenesis, psoriasis is considered to be a multifactorial disease with a number of comorbidities; therefore, theestablished patterns are gradually changing, with systemic therapy being chosen more frequently and earlier. Still, local therapycontinues to be predominant in mild and moderate forms and, in moderate and severe forms, it is an adjunct to phototherapyand systemic therapy. Traditional external medications, such as tar and cignolin, are being replaced by modern agents such asvitamin D derivatives, immunomodulators,...

Secukinumab shows a highly favourable safety profile, particularly in comparison with standard types of treatment, such asmethotrexate use, but also when compared with TNF-α blockers. The use of secukinumab is not accompanied by organ toxicity, serious infections, multiple sclerosis, reactivation of latent tuberculosis or hepatitis B, leukaemia/lymphoma, and non-melanomaskin cancers. The drug has been shown to have therapeutic effect as well as safety and can be accepted as standard in long-termpsoriasis treatment.

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease in which the choice of therapy depends on the extent of the disease and patient‘s agemainly. Local therapies are available for localized forms of the disease but have little effect on large-scale manifestations (especiallyalopecia totalis and alopecia universalis). Up to now, systemic therapy for alopecia areata is burdened with a number ofside effects and a high percentage of relapses after discontinuation. With new advances in disease mechanisms, new treatmentoptions are emerging. Particularly targeted treatment for immune mechanisms of the disease and platelet-rich plasma therapyshow promising results.

Disorders of the acral blood circulation are relatively common disease, manifesting with cold hands. Raynaud’s phenomenon (RF)is typical representative of this type of disability. Two forms of RF are distinguished – primary , with no other associated diseaseand secondary, which is connected with other disease. It could be difficult to differentiate between RF and the other diseasesonly through history taking, because of episodic picture of RF. Objectivization of anamnestic data was made in this original studywith infrared thermography and cold water test. First part of this article is aimed on theoretical aspects of RF.

Autoinflammatory diseases have become an important differential diagnostic entity along with other diagnoses accompaniednot only by fever, such as infections, immunodeficiencies, idiopathic inflammatory conditions, and hemato-oncologic diseases. The term autoinflammatory characterizes the etiologic background of these diseases in which episodic activation of proinflammatorymechanisms is caused by impaired regulation of innate immunity processes. This review article describes the individualconditions with an emphasis on their skin manifestations. The skin manifestations of several of the above-mentioned diseasescan be a significant clue in diagnosing...

Casuistics of a 17year old patient treated with a combined medication containing clindamycin 1% and tretinoin 0,025% is given. The patient was improved significantly within 3 months. A toleralibility of the medicine was very good. Clindamycin 1%/ tretinoin0,025% (Clin-RA) is a fixed antibiotics- retinoid combination for an acne treatment, which contains clindamycin together witha solubilised and crystalline retinoid in a patented aqueous-based, alcohol-free gel. Effective substances affect three from fouretiopathogenetic factors of acne. That is why the medicine reduce inflammatory and non-inflammatory leasions and has a quickentry of action. A consequence...

Periwound tissue of the chronic/non-healing wound is fragile and requires proper treatment throughout the so-called phase healing. The main goal is to keep the wound environment and periwound skin calm, clean and hydrated, thus supporting the woundclosure process through epithelization. Care of the wound environment within wound management requires the attention ofcaregivers and early intervention in case of complications. There are many products on the market to clean and treat periwoundskin and appropriate products selection is important. We deal with the topic of periwound tissue and skin care in general andwe also present a case report.
