Rosacea is a common, chronic, relapsing inflammatory skin condition consisting of various subtypes and degrees of severity. In 2002, rosacea was classified and standardized by the National Rosacea Society Expert Committee into 4 recognized subtypes, although these patterns often overlap in clinical practice. There are rarer pediatric and granulomatous presentations. Uncommon skin condition is persistent edema of rosacea. Actinic keratosis is very common epithelial tumor, from which to be developed squamous cell carcinoma, therefore deemed sometimes for squamous cell carcinoma in situ. This article reviews cutaneous infections caused by papillomaviruses, and discusses current possibilities of topical and systemic therapy, including their indications and contraindications.

News in the treatment with peroral isotretinoin

Acne is a polymorphic inflammatory disease of a pilosebaceous unit. Peroral isotretinoin belongs to the first non-aromatic generation of retinoids and is the most effective medicine in acne treatment. It is indicated first of all for a therapy of severe and resistent forms of acne. The therapy should by directed only by a dermatologist who is experienced in the treatment with this medicine. In the article the latest recommentations for isotretinoin therapy including special arrangement for women are described.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease affecting 2–4 % of the population in Central Europe with significant impact on the physical, mental and social aspects of the individuals life. This disease affects not only the skin, but is associated with a number of comorbidities, the most common being psoriatic arthritis. This case report describes a patient with a very severe course of the disease, characterized by recurrent secondary lack of efficacy of treatment.

Acute urticaria is a frequent disease various etiology characterized by sudden appearance of wheals – urticaria, swelling of the affected area and other general symptoms. The article describes the case of a 34 years old woman with the emergence of acute urticaria after taking analgesics for the treatment of acute pulpitis and tooth caries.

Hydroquinone and tretinoin – new substances for extemporaneous preparation

Hydroquinone and tretinoin are newly available substances for extemporaneous preparation. Thanks to them is possible to prepare creams for treating skin hyperpigmenation. Formulas containing tretinoin can replace unavailable medicinal products, choose a different concentration of the drug or to prepare other dosage forms, which are not available in registered medicinal products.
