Current trends in wound healing

Mgr. Markéta Koutná, Ph.D.

Dermatol. praxi. 2020;14(4):170-176

Trends in wound healing are usually associated with the subsequent or previous creation of position documents (recommended practices of the European Wound Management Association = EWMA, World Union of Wound Healing Societies = WUWHS or European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel = EPUAP etc.). The paper focuses on several areas in woune healing that are not new in clinical practice. Nevertheless, from time to time there is a greater concentration in this specialization on a certain problem, but with the possibility of new solutions, including influencing by materials intended for wound healing.

Psoriasis - overwiew of the disease and indications for the biological treatment. Our experiences with adalimumab treatment

doc. MUDr. Jarmila Čelakovská, Ph.D.

Dermatol. praxi. 2020;14(4):177-183

The article gives the review about psoriasis and discusses especially the treatment options for severe forms of psoriasis. We present several patients with severe psoriasis, where local and systemic treatment has not been successful. In all of these cases, adalimumab has been shown to significantly improve not only the skin finding, but has also ameliorated joint pains and significantly improved the quality of life of these patients. The advantage of biologic therapy is not only its high efficacy but also the possibility of long-term administration, which is a condition of successful treatment of psoriasis. It is always necessary to perform screening...

Current approaches to seborrheic dermatitis

MUDr. Michal Vallo

Dermatol. praxi. 2020;14(4):184-187

Seborrheic dermatitis is a frequent skin dermatosis occurring in the dermatologist's office. It affects parts of the body that are rich in sebaceous glands. The anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of sebaceous glands explain etiopathogenesis of disease along with other factors. Seborrheic dermatitis may indicate or be part of another major internal disease. Classification by the periodization of the postnatal period is important with regard to the current treatment options and approach to it, which are described clearly in the article.

Dry skin: possible causes and everyday care options

MUDr. Naděžda Vojáčková

Dermatol. praxi. 2020;14(4):188-192 | DOI: 10.36290/der.2020.035

Dry skin, also referred to as xerosis cutis, xerosis, or asteatosis, is a common dermatological-cosmetic problem. It depends on the cause and symptom severity. A physiologically dry skin occurs in newborns, infants, toddlers, and the elderly. Extrinsic factors related to atopic eczema, psoriasis, or ichthyosis have an effect on skin dryness. Dry skin may be a manifestation of internal disease or a result of medication use. It affects individuals of different ages at various parts of the body. The causes may be both exogenous and endogenous factors as well as their combination. Several factors underlie the changes: factors interfering with skin barrier...

Acquired perforating disorders

MUDr. Miriam Kantová

Dermatol. praxi. 2020;14(4):193-196 | DOI: 10.36290/der.2020.036

Acquired perforating disorders represent a group of a rare dermatosis characterized by transepithelial extrusion of collagen and elastic fibers. The disease begins mainly in the adulthood and it does not depend on the gender. It is most associated with diabetes mellitus and renal failure. Eleven percent of patients on hemodialysis have some perforating disorder in comparison with the rest of the population. The main complication being pruritus can lead to formation of secondary eflorescention or impetiginisation. In a big group it can cause insomnia because of the itching lesion. In this article we describe the main characteristic, etiopathogenesis,...

Interesting case reports on treating haemangiomas from clinical practice

MUDr. Dana Prusíková

Dermatol. praxi. 2020;14(4):202-206 | DOI: 10.36290/der.2020.038

Infantile haemangiomas (IH) are the most common benign tumours in children. Approximately 90% of IH regress spontaneously over the years, but a relatively high proportion leave a cosmetically disturbing residuum in the form of fibro-fatty tissue, scarring, atrophy, or residual telangiectasias (2). Subsequently, children with a more serious residuum are referred for treatment late, i.e. in the phase of involution, when the residuum can no longer be managed with systemic propranolol, with the only options left being surgical correction or laser treatment. IH that are often underrated include smaller haemangiomas located particularly in the central facial...

Types of anesthesia in outpatient mini-invasive aesthetics surgical procedures

MUDr. Kateřina Klauzová

Dermatol. praxi. 2020;14(4):214-219 | DOI: 10.36290/der.2020.040

Aesthetic medicine is a young, modern and rapidly evolving part of classical medicine and is part of a number of disciplines. Experts in the European Union are working on legislation to standardize aesthetic medicine. The invasiveness of medical interventions in aesthetic medicine is growing due to the development of technologies and procedures. Patients want the most visible and fastest effect possible, and this pushes aesthetic medicine into more aggressive procedures. Along with invasiveness, there is also an unpleasant experience and pain of procedures. The article focuses on the possibilities of anesthesia in minimally invasive procedures in aesthetic...
